IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda Sue
Rayburn
June 18, 1941 – August 24, 2024
Wanda Sue Rayburn, 83, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born June 18, 1941, in Bay City, Texas to the late Wilber R Chambers and Alma Marie Rogers Chambers.
Wanda's parents were self-employed during hard times. Wanda was the second oldest and helped care for her younger siblings. Wanda met Bobby Rayburn and married the love of her life. They had two children, Ricky and Terri, and bought a small house in Sweeny. Wanda's childhood dream was having a home of her own to decorate and have family and friends gather there on Christmas, her favorite time of the year. Wanda was a stay-at-home mom for the early years of her children's upbringing. Her hobbies were decorating, cooking, and shopping. She took a job at a local doctor's office as an insurance clerk and later transferred to the Sweeny Community Hospital. She finished her career as an office clerk at P&W Materials. Wanda was a member of First Baptist Church where she attended and loved serving on the benevolence committee. She was devoted wife, and caretaker of Bobby during his long-term degenerative illness until he passed away. Unfortunately, Wanda was diagnosis with Alzheimer's shortly after his passing. She spent the next twelve years battling this disease.
Wanda loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she was a good and faithful servant. She faced all the obstacles in her life and found strength in the scriptures. Isaiah 41:10 was a personal favorite of hers. She knew in this life we are not promised a life without tribulation. We can all be of good cheer as she has reached her promised land where she now dwells eternally with Jesus.
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Alma Chambers; husband, Bobby Rayburn; son, Ricky "Sam" Rayburn; sister, Martha Cartwright; brothers, Wilbur, Jimmy, Kenneth, and Dennis Chambers; great-grandchild, Liberty Hanna; and son-in-law, Monty Hanna.
She is survived by her daughter, Terri Hanna; grandsons, Corey, Warren and Erin Rayburn, Chad, Cheryl and Kevin Hanna; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Coltyn, and Cheyenne Hanna; sister, Delores DelGiorno; brother-in-law, Duane Rayburn; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rayburn, Cathy Rayburn and Darlene Chambers. Wanda also had many nieces and nephews and extended family that she cherished.
