Ramona LaVerne Turner Murray, 90, passed away September 24, 2023. She was born June 3, 1933 on a farm near Seneca, Missouri to the late John Preston Turner and Edith Leanna Pearson Turner.
Ramona grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She was an active young lady involved in her Methodist Church, as well as dance and cheerleading. In 1952 she wed the love of her life, Robert Ashley Murray. Ramona was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She loved to sew and craft, creating many precious gifts for her grandchildren. She also loved to travel and had many adventures, including appearing on an episode of "Rawhide" in 1959 where she danced with Wishbone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ashley Murray, great grandson Thomas Williams, brothers Hugh Edward Turner and John Junior Turner, and nephew John Toby Turner.
She is survived by daughters Cynthia Dowdy and her husband Bill and Pamela Murray; sons Steve Murray and his wife Sonia and Ashley Robert Murray; Grandchildren William "Trey" Dowdy III and wife Anna, David Ashley Dowdy and wife Laura, Leigh-Anne Williams and husband Steve, Tony Davis, Sarah Davis and Elizabeth Davis; great grandchildren Mercedes Castillo, Alexus Marsh, Ray Edwards, Clayton Dowdy, Samuel Dowdy, John William Dagley, Parks Dagley, Molly Dagley, Max Dagley, Johnie Williams, Grace Williams, Emma Williams and Penelope Williams; great-great grandchildren Aaron Davis, Olivia Davis, Brandon Marsh, Shon Castillo and soon to be born Layne Castillo; and beloved niece Phyllis G. Turner.
The family will gather for a private service where Ramona will be interred with her husband at Houston National Cemetery.
