Obituary

Lester Ivey Wallace, 86, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born in Eagle Lake, TX on June 8, 1939, to the late Hubert Lester Wallace and Cordie Mae Ham Wallace.

Lester grew up in Wharton, TX and graduated from Wharton High School in 1957. While attending Wharton County Junior College, Lester met the love of his life, Lynn Richards and they were married on August 15,1959. They began their married life in Kingsville, TX where he attended Texas A&I University. Lester and Lynn were married for over 66 years and moved to Bay City in 1963 where he went to work for Celanese Chemical Company. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Bay City where he volunteered and served for many years as an Usher. Lester volunteered as a coach for several years with Bay City Little League and helped with all his children's activities.

He served his community teaching CPR classes and working on the Matagorda County Emergency Council. One of his hobbies was Genealogy and he was a member of the Matagorda County Genealogical Society. Lester stayed active with his lawn and landscaping business and was also the Fuller Brush Man in Bay City for several years. He later retired after a long career with Celanese. Lester enjoyed following and watching his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids sports and extracurricular activities.

Lester is survived by his wife, Lynn Richards Wallace; son, Britt (and Mary) Wallace of Houston, TX; son, Jason (and Janet) Wallace of Palacios, TX; daughter, Tiffini (and Bob) Chase of Bay City, TX. Grandchildren are  Mallory (and  Henry) Ottino of Bulverde, TX, Hannah  (and Jesus) Garcia of Palacios, TX, Maston (and Samantha) Wallace of Houston, TX, Haley (and Josh) Lovewell   of   Odessa, TX,  Austin Wallace of Houston, TX,  Abby (and   Jake) Schnieder of Bay City, TX, Kylie Higgins of Cypress, TX, Cade Higgins (and Kim Galindo) of Bay City, TX. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy (and Diane) Wallace of Pledger, TX, brother, Bobby (and Elizabeth) Wallace of Richmond, TX; sister, Janie Dillon of Yachats, OR, sister, Janet Jamella of Houston, TX, and sister, Carol (and David) Simpson of Pledger, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Sharion Richards of Friendswood, TX. Lester is also survived by many wonderful in-laws, nieces and nephews, and 13 great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Lester and Cordie Mae Ham Wallace; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dickie and Jill Lang.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 2:00-3:00pm Friday, January 2, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Bay City. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00pm with Brother Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Maston Wallace, Austin Wallace, Cade Higgins, Bob Chase, Roman Wilson, and Josh Lovewell. Honorary Pallbearers are Niel Simpson, Henry Ottino, Jesus Garcia, and Jake Schneider.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the First Baptist Church of Bay City, TX.
