Obituary

Jo Ann Hebert Schneider, 82, of Palacios went to her home in heaven on February 10, 2025. She was born on April 7, 1942, in Yoakum Texas to Randolph Hebert and Annie Knox Hebert.  She was the oldest of their four children.

Jo Ann was a 1960 Palacios High School graduate. She worked for many years as a dental assistant for Dr. Fred Smith in Palacios. She was a long-time member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she had served as church teller and Sunday School Director.   She helped organize the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner for numerous years.  In her later years she worked for the Texas Baptist Encampment during the summer in the gift shop. She had volunteered her time at the Palacios Community Medical Center as a Blue Belle. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting and scrapbooking. Her pride and joy were her family. She loved to watch her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She was known by her grandchildren as Granny but when her first great grandchild came along, she wanted to be called Gigi. Gigi could light up a room with her beautiful smile.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilson Hebert and Raymond Hebert; son-in-law, Darrell Tedder; and great-grandson, Weston Lee Hunt.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 64 years, Herbert Schneider; daughters, Charlette (Paul) Hunt and Janet Tedder; sister, Shirley (Gene) Wilson and sister-in-law, Doris Hebert; grandchildren, Hillary (Alex) Nieto, Stephanie (Steve) Brugere, Brooke (Greg) Harris, Jeremy (Marissa) Hunt and Dustin (Sonya) Tedder. Great-grandchildren include Logan, Sabrina, Natalie, Lincoln & Lathan Nieto, Ayden & Aleena Llanes, Liam Harris, Presley & Paisley Hunt and Darrell Tedder.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 4-6pm Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, February 17, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church in Palacios with Louis Rush officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alex Nieto, Steve Brugere, Greg Harris, Jeremy Hunt, Dustin Tedder, Logan Nieto and Ayden Llanes.
