Emma Vivian Cherry Slawson, 90, of Bay City passed away May 18, 2023. She was born March 7, 1933 in Oakwood, Texas to the late Frank Calvin Westbrook and Emma Lou Rodgers. Emma was married to her husband Larry for nearly 60 years until his passing in 2012. They enjoyed traveling the world, spending many years overseas. After retiring, she still loved being involved and active in the community and worked at several local libraries and volunteered at the hospital. Emma and SK, married for 7 happy years, enjoyed spending time with their church and at the VFW. To her family she was called "Honey" and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles "Larry" Cherry, her son Larry Eugene Cherry, her daughter Debra Sue Bender, sister Dorothy Jean Kissinger, and brother Thomas Calvin Westbrook.

Survivors include husband Sherril Keith Slawson; sisters Mary Lou Denison and Peggy Niederlitz; grandchildren Brandi Saunders and Anthony Gonzales, Kristina Bush, Sean Cherry, Larry Don and Isbeth Cherry, John and Katie Cherry; and 11 great grandchildren, with one on the way.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Bay City Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Damon Cemetery in Damon, Texas. Pallbearers will be Larry Don Cherry, John Cherry, Keith Slawson and Sidney Slawson.
