Zaragoza Gonsalez Salinas, 92, of Palacios, passed away Saturday, October 01, 2005. He was born August 17, 1913 in Benavidas, TX to Mauricio Gonsalez Salinas and Bartola Gonsalez Salinas. He was a resident of Palacios since 1936, a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife: Maria Salinas of Palacios; his daughter: Mary Ann Zuniga of Santa Fe: his sons: Alvin M. Salinas of Bay City and James Edward Salinas of San Antonio; by his sister: Nieves Salinas Samora of Richmond; a brother: Mauricio Salinas of Palacios; and by 11 – grandchildren and 18 – great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Bernice Leach Salinas; by his sons Zaragoza G. "Charlie" Salinas, Jr. and Christopher Salinas; by 2 sisters: Maria Trevino and Frances Cunningham; by 3 brothers: Jesus "Red" Salinas, Santos Salinas and Jose Salinas and 5 infant siblings; and by 1 grandson: Robert Carlos Salinas.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the Palacios Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 3, 2005 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Palacios with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers are Fernando Aguilar, Jr., Juan Aguilar, Antonio Chavez, Justin Hargett, William Hargett, James Salinas, and Mark Salinas
