W. R. Weathers, 88, of Bay City passed away August 13, 2013. He was born September 21, 1924 in West Columbia, TX to the late George Weathers and Haley Byers Weathers. He served in the US Army during WWII and devoted his entire life to farming and ranching in Matagorda County.

His wife Lucille Weathers preceded him in death. Survivors include sons George Weathers and wife Jan of Amarillo, TX, Donald Weathers and wife Carol of Cedar Lane, Lee Weathers of Buckeye and David Weathers and wife Joan of Bay City; sister Annie Clements of Pearland; brother Ben Weathers of Bay City; grandchildren Jennifer Hale, Haley Burrow, Justin Weathers, Jeremy Weathers, Stephen Weathers, Daniel Hanzik and Michelle Huddleston and great grandchildren Caitlin Hale, Savannah Burrow, Trace Burrow, Hannah Weathers, Grady Weathers, Lucy Weathers and Kayleigh Huddleston.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm until 8pm Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2013 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hanzik, Stephen Weathers, Jeremy Weathers, Justin Weathers, Barry Weathers and Ben Rosenbaum.
