William Ray Sexton, 79, of Palacios passed away June 22, 2019. He was born October 16, 1939 in Ganado, TX to the late Aris Melvin Sexton and Emma Ellen Sampson Sexton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Robert Sexton and Jessie Owen Sexton.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Byron Sexton; sons William Ray Sexton Jr. & wife Debbie Lynn; Kenneth Wayne Sexton & wife Lisa Rae and Gregory Keith Sexton Sr. & wife Christian Jean; sisters Dora Gulley and Alice Kirkland; grandchildren Candis Silva (David Silva), William Ray Sexton III, Tanner Wayne Sexton, Taylor Rae Sexton, Timothy Reed Sexton, Gregory Keith Sexton Jr. (Jessica Sexton) and Katelyn Nicole Sexton and great grandchildren Ryder Slade Silva, Nolan Ray Sexton and Gregory Keith Sexton III and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an accomplished guitarist and song writer. His love for the Lord touched the lives of many. He and his wife, Peggy, wrote and sung several original country gospel songs and served as Praise & Worship leaders for many years. Ray loved spending time with his family. His favorite times were spent duck hunting with his sons and grandchildren. "Papa" as his family lovingly called him, left a mark on the heart of all that knew him. He was a strong man of faith and integrity and will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Brumbelow officiating. Interment will follow at Midfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tanner Wayne Sexton, Gregory Keith Sexton, Jr., William Ray Sexton III, Mike Weixelman, David Silva and Stephen Harvey.
