William Laney Johnson, 69, of Blessing passed away Monday April 28, 2008. He was born September 4, 1938 in Blount County Alabama to the late Johnie Newton Johnson and Bessie Rakestraw Johnson. Mr. Johnson graduated from high school in Alabama, and served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. He worked in Florida in 1961 as a boatsman and moved to Texas in 1962 where he worked as a roofer, ironworker, glass salesman and transmission salesman. He worked most of his adult life in the security industry protecting people and property.

He is survived by two daughters; Randolyn Sanders of Houston and Marilyn Moore of Tennessee; one son William Laney Johnson Jr. of Iowa; sisters, Inez Kelpen of Blessing and Bobbie Clancy of Houston; brothers, Frankie Johnson of Alabama and Johnny Johnson of Alabama; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two brothers and three sisters.

Viewing will be at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday May 1, 2008 at Hawley Cemetery.
