Obituary

Wilbert Erwin Hannusch, 88, of Bay City, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Matagorda Regional Medical Center. He was born October 18, 1923 in Winchester, TX to Paul Hannusch and Bertha Wagner Hannusch. He married Helma Noack in 1947 when he came home from the Army and World War II. They farmed in the Winchester, TX area until they moved to Wharton County for his job at Texas Gulf Sulphur Company. He was a plant operator, among many other jobs at Texas Gulf for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and water-skiing and taught all his children to enjoy the outdoors. He was a resident of Matagorda County since 1968. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church LCMS of Wharton, TX.

He and his wife would have been married 64 years on November 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Helma Noack Hannusch of Bay City; his daughters, Dianne Elaine Wassenich and husband Tom of San Marcos, TX and Susan Lynn Ryman and husband Douglas of Wadsworth, TX; by his sons, Glenn Keith Hannusch of Clute and Stephen Wayne Hannusch and wife Heiderose of Brazoria; and by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his sisters, Meta, Dony, and Loraine; and by his brothers, Walter and Melvin.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 31, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church LCMS, 614 Pecan St., Wharton, TX, with Rev. Barry Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Wharton, TX. Pallbearers will be Stephen Hannusch, Christopher Hannusch, Glenn Hannusch, Patrick Hannusch, Tom Wassenich and Douglas Ryman.

Memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 614 Pecan St., Wharton, TX 77488.
