Obituary

Wayne E. Yeamans, 70, of Matagorda passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013. He was born July 25, 1943 in Bay City to the late Woodrow Yeamans Sr. & Trilby Bond. Wayne was a life long resident of Matagorda. He was employed by Matagorda County Precinct 2, and Colorado River Locks for 31 years. Wayne was very active in the Matagorda community through various charitable groups. He was a member of the Matagorda Volunteer Fire dept. and served on the Matagorda ISD School Board. Wayne enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and visiting with friends at his barn "Wayne's Place". In his early years, Wayne enjoyed performing in the band, "Big W. and the Crystals" and playing softball for the Matagorda Clippers.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Karen Yeamans of Matagorda; 4 children: Cheryl Yeamans of Matagorda; Beth Yeamans of Matagorda; Doug & Amy Yeamans of Boling, and Greg & Pam Yeamans of Wadsworth; and sister: Debra Bradley of Smithville. Wayne was preceded in death by his father: Woodrow Yeamans Sr.; mother: Trilby Bond; sisters: Bobbie Smith and Katherine Roberts; and brother: Woodrow Yeamans Jr.

Family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 15, 2013 at the funeral home. The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church of Matagorda with Rev. Virgil Ichtertz officiating. Interment will follow at Matagorda Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Gann, George Deshotels, Greg Baker, David Allen, James Ward, and Gary Synatsch. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles Mladenka, Homer Green, Bill Smith, Ray Culver, Bill Anderson, Carl Lamneck, Tom Klaiber, Jesse Deshotels, and Simon DeSoto.
