Wanda Eloise Davis Denbow left this earth Wednesday, May 25, 2011 to join her loved ones in Heaven. Born in Sioux Falls, Iowa on May 20, 1918, she was a twelfth generation descendant of a Mayflower Pilgrim family. Her parents, Myrtle Almeda Richardson Davis and George Elroy Davis, moved their family to Edinburg, Texas in 1919.
She was married April 17, 1938 to Elmer William Denbow of McAllen, Texas. They moved to Matagorda County in 1938 and lived in Markham until moving to Bay City in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years in 2006 and by nine sisters and brothers and by twin daughters, Sharon and Karen in 1942. She is survived by daughters Lynda Eloise Bible, Susan Elaine & husband Edward Vavra, Jr. and Rhonda Edythe & husband Jim Porter; ten grandchildren Forrest Bible & wife Irene, Lara Masson & husband Dennis, John Evan Bible & wife Stacei, Matthew Bible & wife Shawn, Amy Vavra Orsak & husband Russell, Alyson Vavra-Roe & husband Stephen, Bryan Vavra, Jamie Porter Willis & husband Josh, Jimmy Porter & wife Shelley and William Porter & wife Jenny; ten great-grandchildren Meagan Bible, Fletcher Masson, Kodie & Laney Bible, Molly Eloise Bible, Kolby, Kade & Kara Orsak, Jaxon Porter and Lindsey Walston. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law Olamae Davis of Bryan, TX and Bertha Denbow of Ganado, TX.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm – 8pm Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2011 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with Chaplain Don Storey officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
