Obituary

Wallace "Wally" Reid Rash, 83, of Sargent passed away May 5, 2007 after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. He was born Sept. 22, 1923 in Waco, TX to Robert Jackson Rash and Elizabeth Smith Rash. He has been a property owner in Sargent since 1975 and a permanent resident since his retirement in January 1989.

Wally served in the US Army during WWII. He worked for Truth Verification, Inc, a division of Smith Protective Service. Wally was one of the pioneers in advancing the use of the polygraph in business and industry. He graduated from Keeler Polygraph Institute in Chicago. Wally served on various committees for the American Polygraph Association and the Texas Association of Polygraph. Wally served as the Branch Manager and President of Smith Protective Services retiring in December 1988. After his retirement his passion was golf, fishing and his Wednesday night pool games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Paul, Howard & Wade and three sisters Pauline, Gladys & Lucille.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Rash of Sargent; daughters & sons-in-law Pat & Robert Griffin of Waco and Joanna & Kevin Haswell of Katy; son & daughter-in-law Michael Reid & Brenda Rash of Waco; seven grandchildren Jeff & Michael Davis, Kevin Rash, Kristen Griffin, Courtney Tischendorf, Acacia & Caitlyn Davis and three great grandchildren Taylor Davis, and Tatum & Teya Tischendorf.

The family will receive friends & relatives from 5PM-7PM Monday, May 7, 2007 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 10, 2007 at the Robinson Cemetery in Robinson, TX.

If Wally could leave only one message it would be to all men over fifty to have an annual prostate exam. Early detection of cancer could mean the difference between a total cure or the alternative. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice, 1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, TX 77437. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
