Waddie Loftin Cole, 91, of Bay City, was born to the late David William and Lillian Loftin Cole on July 30, 1919 in Waller, Texas. He passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2011 in Houston Texas.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City, President of the Matagorda County 100 Club for 12 years, and was also a lifetime member of the 100 Club. He, also, was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2438, a member of the Eagles, and the American Legion Post 11.
He served in the United States Army for three and a half years. While in the military he was assigned to the 333rd Engineers Medical Detachment, 279th Combat Engineers, and the 289th Infantry Division. He served in active duty in the European Theater of War. He met the love of his life Georgia A. Coleman, and in 1943 they were married in Ontario, California. After being honorably discharges from the Army, they settled in California for two years before moving back to his hometown of Bay City, Texas. He and Georgia, in 1950, went into the plumbing business. Their business increased and along with his residential business they added commercial work, which included plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. In early 1960 they moved the business to the present location where he presently conducted the business until his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister: Elizabeth Burkhart, and 5 brothers: William, Jenoye, Jack, John, and David William Cole Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years: Georgia A. Cole; his 2 beloved daughters: Terri Striebeck & husband Scotty and Dianne Rooth & husband Richard; 4 grandchildren: Laura Striebeck, Jake Striebeck, Jeremy Rooth, and Jeffery Rooth; 3 sisters: Annie Lee Jones, Lillian Milberger, and Dorothy Dietrich & husband Hadden Sr.; brother: Rosser Cole & wife Ada; 12 nephews: Eugene, Randy, Lee, David, Raymond, Roy, & Allan Cole; Wayne, Arthur, and Bryan Milberger; and Hadden Jr., & Cole Dietrich. 7 nieces: Barbara Sue Spacek, Pat Davis, Carolyn Earnest, Marsha Dela Riva, Pam Svetlik, Mary Ellen Milberger, and Judy Metcalf; and many great nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2011. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 13, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Stroub, of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be: Teo Sanchez, Javier Rodriguez Sr., Javier Rodriguez Jr., Urbano Rodriquez, Scotty Striebeck, and Richard Rooth.
