Vivian Laslie Evens Wilkerson went peacefully to heaven while surrounded by family on January 31, 2018 to be with her beloved husband Richard Thomas Evens.

In Vivian's younger years she enjoyed horses, working cattle, and fishing. She spent her life caring for others including a career as a nurse at Wagner General Hospital and several local family doctors. After she retired she volunteered for the morning services at Palacios Nursing Home. Vivian also enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid animal lover with a special place in her heart for her dog Sissy.

She was preceded in death by Richard Thomas Evens, her parents Bill and Alvena Kopesky Laslie, siblings Willie Mae Gunter Simpson, Lonnie B. Laslie, Mary Ann Griffith, Raymond Laslie, Charles Laslie and daughter-in-law Kim Evens.

Vivian is survived by her son Richard M. Evens; daughter Betty Elaine Meadows; sister Lucille Dendy (Robert); sisters-in-law Mary Sue Evens Brown and Ann Laslie; grandchildren Gene Evens (Rachel), Galen Evens (Flo), Julie Harnar (London) and Thomas Meadows (Kristie); great grandchildren Ethan, Justine, Mason, Claudia Jean, Joseph, and baby girl Evens, Chelsea and Kimber Harnar, Mackenzie and Braden Meadows, and special friend Irene Mangum.

Visitation will be from 5PM until 7PM Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Colleen Claybourn and Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Meadows, Buddy Laslie, C. A. Laslie, Pete Griffith, Lewis Griffith, Mark Merck and Galen Johnson. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
