Vivian Odom, 83, of Bay City, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital – Willowbrook, Houston, Texas. Vivian was born in Lexington, Mississippi on September 25, 1928 to parents Henry D. and Mattie Daves Grantham. Vivian and Herman W. Odom, Jr. were married in Mississippi on June 30, 1950 and moved to Bay City in 1955 and continued to reside there while raising their family. A dedicated mother and wife, Vivian reared three children while working for Matagorda General Hospital for 21 years until retirement in 1991. After retirement, she and Herman enjoyed traveling and spending time at home with their family.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, two daughters and a son, Cheryl Reid and husband Matt of Humble, TX. Linda Saha and husband Glenn of Houston, TX. and Charles H. Odom of Spring, TX. Vivian is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Lois Mims of Columbus, MS and Reecy White of Kosciusko, MS, as well as brother, Roy L. Grantham of Columbus, MS. She was always proud of being a grandmother to eight grandchildren encouraging and loving to all; Pierce Reid, Elizabeth Reid, Lauren Saha, Natalie Saha, Andrew Saha, Christi Fulton and husband Chris, Claire Hollek and husband Nathan and Scott Odom.
Funeral services for Vivian will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Bay City with Rev. Jeff Gantz officiating along with Rev. Chester Sassman. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Glenn Saha, Matt Reid, Scott Odom, Andrew Saha, Nathan Hollek, and Pierce Reid will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Matagorda Regional Medical Center Foundation, 104 7th St., Bay City, TX 77414.
