Obituary

Virgil D. Farley passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015 in Edna, Texas. He was born on June 5, 1928, to Oscar and Nancy Wilkins Farley and grew up in Crystal City, Texas, with his parents and 6 siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Adela; son Benny Farley and wife Yvonne; daughter Marilyn Mallory; grandsons Eric Mallory and wife Stephanie, Chris Farley and wife Marcey and Brett Ringo; great-grandsons Seth Mallory, Joshua Farley and Colton Farley; brother James Farley and numerous sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Lawrence ; brothers Otto, Grover and Daniel Farley; sisters Pernia Dennis and Leona Wooten.

Virgil and Adela have resided in Caranachua community for most of their 67 years of marriage. He worked for Alcoa in Point Comfort, Texas for 36 years and retired in 1986. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus and Woodmen of the World. Virgil was a avid hunter and a man of many talents including ranching, carpentry and mechanics. He was also a wonderful counselor, advisor and teacher to his family and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Palacios Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm with a rosary being recited at 6:30pm. Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Palacios, Texas with Fr. Bryan Heyer officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers are Eric Mallory, Chris Farley, Brett Ringo, Josh Farley, Andy Novak and Russell Orsak. Honorary pallbearers are Seth Mallory, Colton Farley, Bennie Orsak, Marvin Stuhrenberg, Michael Novak and Wayne Dennis.
