Victoria “Vicki” Lynn Mata-Perez, 58, passed away on October 24, 2026. She was born on May 17, 1968, in Bay City, Texas.
Vicki was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and a pillar of her community. She began her career working at Head Start, where she formed many wonderful friendships with people who became like family to her. She later worked at the nuclear plant for 24 years, spending the latter part of her career as a site coordinator. She took great pride in her work and cherished the many friendships and connections she made throughout the years.
Above all, Vicki’s greatest love was her family. She treasured her children and grandbabies, who were the center of her world. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed traveling to watch Ella play soccer in college, proudly cheering her on at many games. She also loved a good game night with family and friends, filled with laughter and the sounds of Tejano and country music. Some of her favorite memories included enjoying Vincent’s delicious pork chops, baking and making snow cones with her grandkids, and shopping with Eilene and Jessica after Ella’s soccer games. These simple moments brought her so much happiness and created cherished memories her family will hold close to their hearts forever.
Vicki is survived by her mother, Frances Gonzalez; her beloved children, Jessica Nicholas; Eilene Avila and her husband, Carlos; Vincent Perez Jr. and his wife, Christy; and Ella Mata-Perez. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Bailey, Cailynn, Logan, Jonas, Benjermin, Camila, Jaxon, Tre, and Kourtlynn.
She is also survived by her siblings, Diana Lopez, Cynthia Rodriguez, George Mata, Marcus Resendez and his wife, Melanie, Azalea “Sally” Rice, and Melissa Miller, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Vicki was preceded in death by her biological father, Joe Mata; the man who raised her, George Resendez; her nephew, Christian Mata; and her beloved ladybug, Taryn Harris.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Taylor Brothers. Vicki will be cremated following the services.
