Obituary

Ural Lee Stanford Donohoe, 92, of Bay City was born on September 18, 1933, to the late Williard F. & Alva Lela Meadows Stanford. She passed away on March 3, 2026, from complications of cancer and age. She lived her entire life in Bay City with the exception of a short period of time in Mississippi where her husband was in the Air Force, and 2 years in Conroe. She married William Edward “Bill” Donohoe on December 1, 1957. He preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a still born older sister Jo Etta Fern, her oldest son Bruce and a great-grand-son Cameron Miller. She is survived by a sister, Joyce Hammock, two sons, Terry and Roger, granddaughters; Becca Jones (Kirk), Kayla Jaros (Chase), Madison Miller (Ty), Jericka Donohoe, and Tia Jackson (Blake), and 9 great-grandchildren: Tace Donohoe, Lydia Stucker, Sage Jaros, Goldie Jaros, Shiloh Jaros, Max Miller, Archer Miller, Ike Jackson, and Alister Jackson.

Mom was known for her talents. She had a very well stocked scrapbooking room where she happily made a scrapbook for each grandkid every Christmas. She began to bake cakes for a few of her friends. Word got around and soon that turned into a cake business. She became known as the cake lady who did wedding, anniversary, and birthday cakes. This lasted for many years. Her turtle collection reached over 1,000 and several bookcases in her home were lined with bird books and cookbooks. Her travels took her to 16 countries and all 50 US states. She was a member of DAR and researched thousands of people in her family tree.

Throughout her life she was always active in church. Taught a Sunday school class, sang in the choir, worked in the office, did copy work for Bible study and helped clean when needed. She always tried to follow what the Bible says and hoped others could see her light. God blessed Ural with a long life, and she outlived all her friends and most of her generation. She will be missed.

A brief viewing will be held prior to the funeral services on Monday March 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church 5701 7th Street in Bay City. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM with Reverend Kevin Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Donohoe, Roger Donohoe, Tony Hammock, and Buddy Hammock.

Special thanks to the amazing ladies at Angels Care Hospice and the many nurses, doctors, and aides who were so kind and helpful in her final months.
