Obituary

Travis Washington, 75, of Palacios passed away April 19, 2009. He was born Sept. 30, 1933 in Linden, Texas to Guy H. & Mary Elizabeth Meacham Washington. He retired from Palacios ISD after 30 years serving as both teacher and principal. He will be remembered as a Texas Longhorn fan and an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his father; wife Emma J. Washington and brother Merril Washington. Survivors include his mother Mary Washington of Clute; daughter Debbie Klump & husband Dennis of Port Lavaca; granddaughter Crystal Woody & husband Brett & great grandsons Trent, Bo, and Billy Woody all of Port Lavaca; sisters Sara White & husband Ben of Freeport & Martha Miller & husband Joel of Alvarado, TX; and brothers Guy Washington, Jr. & wife Pat of Hemphill, Jerry Washington & wife Bonnie of Palacios, Don Washington of Arkansas and George Washington & wife Cheryl of Wharton.

The Family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Palacios Cemetery with Guy H. Washington, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry D. Washington, Jr., Jerry D. Washington III, Ben White, Travis Washington, George Washington and Guy H. Washington III. Honorary palbrearers are his old golfing buddies and Palacios School District employees and his great grandsons. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice.
