Thomas G. Flores, Sr., 82, of Bay City passed away August 1, 2023, peacefully in his sleep at his home with his family.  He was born August 3, 1940, in Palacios, TX to the late Abelardo Trevino Flores and Rosauro Garcia Flores.

Thomas graduated from Palacios High School in 1960 and served in the United States Army from 1961 – 1963.  He married Joyce, his wife of 60 years, in November of 1962 before being deployed to Germany where he served as a medic.  After completing his service, he returned home to Palacios before moving to Bay City to raise his family.

He worked his entire career for W & W Marina where he started out helping in the shop at the age of 14.  Over the years he worked as a mechanic, a deck hand and eventually a Captain on multiple shrimp boats.  When he retired, he was a partner in the business.

After retirement, he began ranching and enjoyed taking care of his animals.  He awoke every morning and drove to check on the cattle each day. He helped his nephew and sons with their cattle and made many friends over the years doing what he enjoyed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lalo.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Flores, sons Tommy Flores, Jr., James W. Flores (Tamara) and Martin Dewayne Flores (Michelle); sisters Ophelia Perez, Evangaline Hilburn, Stella Martino and Pilar Flores; brother Tony Flores and grandchildren Matthew Thomas Flores, McKenna Day Flores, Kalie Flores, Kayla Robinson, Kolton Wooley, Cooper Flores, Garrett Flores, Erin Flores and Jackson Flores.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM with Estela Sifuentes officiating.  Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Craig Wallace, Martin Estudillo, Zeke Marroquin, Efren Marroquin, Luis Cisneros, and Abraham Flores.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Solomon, Jose Tapia, Abel Morales, and Alfredo Zamora.
