Sylvia Irene Redinger, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away in Bay City, Texas on Saturday, November 16, 2013. She was born on November 20, 1924, in Hallettsville, Texas, to the late Otto H. and Hilda Laqua. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3232, and an auxiliary member of the P. H. Parker VFW Post #2438. Sylvia Laqua and Oliver Redinger were united in marriage on Sunday, May 12, 1946. They were married for fifty-six years prior to Oliver's passing on August 10, 2002. Sylvia was multi-talented and had a flair for color and fashion. She loved to cook large meals and bake homemade bread, cinnamon rolls and kolaches. She was a master of barbequing, sewing, quilting and canning the harvests of her and Oliver's bountiful gardens. Sylvia loved to be surrounded by her children and their families. She is survived by daughter Shirley Jo Garrison and her husband Douglas, daughter Dorothy Ann Yates, daughter Lanna Joyce Hargrove and her husband Tommy, son Louis Wayne Redinger, and son Gibran Andrew Redinger and his wife Diana. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, brother Rev. Boyce Laqua & wife Vivian of Rockport; and sister-in-law Lillian Laqua of Victoria. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Olliver, her infant daughter Connie Lee Redinger, her daughter-in-law Valerie Redinger and her cherished granddaughter Jessica Yates Wooten. The Celebration of Sylvia's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Rev. Jared Stillions officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Neil Garrison, Shawn Redinger, Travis Redinger, Will Hargrove, Mia Hargrove, and Larry Gipson. Honorary pallbearers are Hugh Garrison, Christopher Yates, and Michael Redinger. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
