IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Anthony
Goodale
March 17, 1983 – May 4, 2018
It is with unbelievable sadness that we announce the death of Steven Anthony Goodale, who passed from this world on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the age of 35 years in Matagorda, Texas.
Steven was born on March 17, 1983 at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. In 2002, he graduated from Harper High School in Harper, Texas, where he played football and spent many hours working with his hero – his grandfather, Monroe Jerome Lang - who preceded him in death. After high school, Steven went on to work in oil refineries in the Houston area and up the eastern coast of the United States. In 2008, he returned to Texas to work for the family business in Brenham. During his time there, Steven discovered his love for rodeo sound production, into which he poured his heart and soul. At the time of his passing, he was working a job he enjoyed very much, because it allowed him to be outdoors and near the water on a daily basis.
Steven was known for his kind heart, constant grin, joyful laugh, and easygoing personality. Because of these qualities, he never met a person who stayed a stranger for long. He would literally give you his last dollar, pick up the tab, or extend a hand any way he could. Steven was also known for his own brand of jokes, which his family playfully called "pulling a Stevie." He was an avid fisherman who spent a great deal of his free time catching anything from sharks to bass. Steven did all these things while raising his two youngest children on his own. His children ruled his heart and are the reason he woke each day.
Steven is survived by his three children, Gabrielle, Caleb, and Addison; his parents, Steve and Sharon; sister, Stephenei and her husband, Clint; brother, Sean and his wife, Claire; brother, Scott and his wife, Nicole; grandmother, Billie; grandfather, Victor; nieces and nephews, Sicilly, Dominic, Henderson, and Charlotte; the mother of his children, Jody; and his partner, Kerri. Steven leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends.
The family wishes to invite family members and friends to a memorial service for Steven at Christ Episcopal Church in Matagorda on Friday, May 11 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to an online memorial fund created to help with the cost of raising Steven's children are deeply appreciated. The campaign can be found at the following URL: https://www.gofundme.com/steven-anthony-goodale-memorial
