IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen North
Fry
September 19, 1955 – January 9, 2023
Stephen North Fry, 67, came into this world September 19, 1955, and it will never be the same again without him. He was a devoted Husband and Father who will be sorely missed. He was born in Spur, Texas to A.T. and Melva North Fry and throughout his childhood grew up primarily in Fort Morgan, CO graduating in 1973 from Fort Morgan High School.
In 1981 he married Jeanie Fry, the girl next door and started a family. He always made sure his family never went without and was taken care of. He moved his little family from Fort Morgan, CO to Hobbs, NM and eventually to Bay City, Texas in 1999.
In Colorado he loved assisting farmers or ranchers with trapping coyotes, beavers, and many other creatures. He was even known to raise a few stray crows. He never let an animal suffer and had a very high regard for animal welfare and nature. He put up with every stray animal his kids brought him with love and devotion, and he taught his kids to be devoted animal lovers as well.
He worked for Phillips Petroleum for 15 years before moving to Bay City Texas to start a solo contract career and he loved it. He loved being in the field working outdoors and taking care of oil leases. He truly loved working hard but due to health reasons he was forced (and I do mean forced) to give it up and focus on his health.
He passed away January 8, 2023, the day after his 42 nd wedding anniversary. He fought as hard as he could to stay with us as long as he could.
In his final wishes, Steve wishes were that everyone embrace life, live with a heart of gold, and cherish the things that matter most. He is dearly missed by his family, friends, and we have been robbed of some of the best years of his twilight.
He is survived by his wife: Jeanie Fry; daughter: Holly Fry; son Taylor Fry & Fiancé Ashlie Holder; and three grandchildren: Johnathan, Levi and Kaylie.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Matagorda County Birding Nature Center starting at 1:00 PM
