Sofia Q. Valdez, 77, of Bay City passed away August 19, 2021. She was born November 17, 1943 in Cedar Lane, Texas to the late Praxedes Quintanilla and Margarita Cervantes Quintanilla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lorenzo Valdez, Jr. and granddaughter Stephanie L. Valdez.

Survivors include daughters Debbie Rodriguez (Anselmo Herrera) and Katy Garay (Steven Garay); son David Valdez; sister Josephine Gomez; brother Nicholas Quintanilla; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren including Jordan Valdez whom she was raising and caring for.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM with Rev. Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manuel Rodriguez, Markie Rodriguez, Lorenzo Valdez III, Anselmo Herrera, Emilio Herrera and Beto Herrera.
