Shirley Priesmeyer Kinsey, 75, of Bay City, Texas, went home to be with our Lord on December 9, 2010, in Bay City, Texas. She was born Jan. 26, 1935 in Crescent, Texas to Walter and Flora Ridgeway Priesmeyer. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was a 1951 graduate of Crescent High School and a 1957 graduate of Texas College of Arts & Industries. She married Alford Glyn Kinsey in 1954. In her professional career and volunteer work, she always served others with her love for music. She taught elementary school music in Angleton, Port Lavaca, Bay City ISD, and Holy Cross for 42 years. Shirley was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Bay City, where she taught Sunday school, played in the hand bell choir, sang in the adult choir, directed children's choir and founded and directed the Jubilaires. Shirley volunteered, after her second retirement, as a Pink Lady at Matagorda General Hospital. She was also active in Delta Kappa Gamma.
Shirley is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Wayne and Sally Ann Root Kinsey of Sugar Land, Texas; David Glyn and Cindy Lee Ehrlich Kinsey of Pearland, Texas; and Brian Keith and Teresa Lynn Robertson Kinsey of Rockwall, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, Kenneth Zachry Kinsey; Shelsea Reneé Kinsey, Jonathan Michael Kinsey, Hillary Anne Kinsey, Brandyn Ryan Kinsey, Gaines Harrison Kinsey, Nathaniel Aaron Kinsey, Stone Alexander Kinsey, Sean David Kinsey, Kacey Lee Ehrlich Shular, Kyle Michael Ehrlich, & Kendall Robert Ehrlich; 1 great grandchild, Kylie Anne Ndegwa; 1 step-great, grandchild, Peyton Shular 10 nieces and nephews, Allen Romig; Gail Rasmussen Brown; Yevette Rasmussen Groover; Paula Priesmeyer; Rosemond "Cissy" Priesmeyer Curtis; Walter Rasmussen; Denise Raybon Brodsgaard; Gary Raybon; Lisa Schur; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Alford Glyn Kinsey; her parents, her sisters, Grace Priesmeyer Rasmussen, Bettye Priesmeyer Olson; and a brother, Paul Priesmeyer.
A time of visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, December 11, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bay City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 12th at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Bay City with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Shirley's grandsons: Zachry, Jonathan, Brandyn, Nathaniel, Gaines, and Stone Kinsey will serve as pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.
