Obituary

Shirley Ann Flanagan was called to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 26, 2010. She was 75 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law and friend to many and will be missed by all.

She was born in Corpus Christi, TX to the late William Gobel Jordan and Orene Schweinle Jordan. She graduated from La Marque High School and Sam Houston State University and used this academic success to educate Texas elementary school children for over 35 years. As a result, she was especially proud of the positive impact she had on the lives of thousands of children in their pursuit of academic and professional achievement.

Her life interests were many and include an unwavering love and dedication to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; a passion for educating Texas Youth; her ranches in Van Vleck and Hopewell; reading; and her many pets and livestock including Abner, Daisy, and Bart just to name a few. However, her primary interest was and will always be loving and caring for family and friends unconditionally and a dedication to their success and well being. She was a member of Van Vleck United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wiliam Smither Flanagan and her parents.

She is survived by sons Mark and his wife Tracy, Mike and his wife Beatrice and Monte; grandsons Jeremy & Michael; brother Don Jordan and his wife Barbara; brother-in-law Wilbur Enke; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Martha Girling officiating.
