Secario Servantes, Jr. of Port Lavaca passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in Bay City. He was born August 22, 1922 in Goliad to Maria Ariola & Secario Servantes, Sr. He worked for the City of Port Lavaca for many years until his retirement. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army and received the Purple Heart.
He grew up on the family farm where he developed his love for all kinds of animals. He was a loving father and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lupe Rivera Servantes; his son: Secario (Cecil) Munoz of Port Lavaca; his daughters: Mary (Joe) Solis and Janie (Alejo) Gonzalez of Bay City, Delia (Artemio) Trevino, Betty (John) Garcia, Ruby (Ignacio) Cantu and JoAnn (Victor) Echartea of Port Lavaca; by a daughter-in-law: Esperanza Servantes of Port Lavaca; by a sister: Aurora Martinez; and by 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded by Guadalupe Servantes; by his sisters: Thomasa Mosqueda and Librada Juarez; by his brothers: Andres Servantes and Daniel Camacho; and by his granddaughter: Alexis Munoz. Pallbearers will be Chris Cuellar, Ruben De La Garza, Terrance Garcia, Noel Lozano, Eric Garcia, Jason Cantu, Eddie Rodriguez, and Lupe Villareal, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Rene Ramirez, Paul Zamora, Lupe Lozano and Johnny R. Camacho.
The Rosary will be held at 8:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Port Lavaca Cemetery, Port Lavaca, TX.
