Scott Matthews Dickerson, age 84, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by those he loved, on Sunday, September 12, 2010. Scotty was born July 17, 1926, in Houston, Texas, but his family moved to Bay City when he was 10. He was a Rice Buyer for Rice Belt Warehouse until his retirement. Scotty was an avid fisherman and loved playing dominoes.

Scotty was preceded in death by his parents: John C. Dickerson & Susie Matthews Dickerson and sister: Ellen Jane Wilson. Survivors include wife of 59 years, Patricia Anne Dickerson of Bay City; 2 daughters: Mary Anne Johnson of League City, and Susan Dickerson of Baton Rouge; son-in-law: Mike Johnson, granddaughter: Shelby Johnson of Dickinson; brother: John C. Dickerson Jr. of Bay City; and many other beloved relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at the First Christian Church, 3920 Doris, in Bay City with Rev. Tom Quirk officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Percy Carroll, Frank Sliva, Dr. Barton Griffith MD, John Dickerson III, Bill Phillips, and Mark Dodd. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ken Culbreth, Dwight Reck, and Gus Svatek. Memorial contributions are welcome and should be made to the First Christian Church, 3920 Doris, Bay City, TX 77414.
