Sandra Blaylock Hickl, 73, of Sweeny, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 15, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Virgil Blaylock and Irene Kelley Blaylock.
Sandra enjoyed dancing with her husband, Edmund, to one of their favorite songs, “Silver Wings.” She loved being outdoors, searching for sand dollars along the beach and riding her zero-turn lawn mower to keep her yard meticulous. Spending time with family was especially important to Sandra, whether it was playing slot machines at Delta Downs with her sisters, sitting on the porch visiting, or spoiling her grandchildren and ensuring they always had their favorite snacks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Blaylock; and her brother-in-law, Wayne McDonald.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Edmund Hickl; her son, Edmund J. “EJ” Hickl (Kimberly), and their children, Slade and Sawyer Hickl; her daughter, Elicia Hickl, and her children, Orin King, Maliyah Griggs, and Devin Barnes; her great-grandchildren, Ahden King, Amir Green, and Aalani Green; her sisters, Vicki McDonald, Debbie Keller (Dana), and Doreen Horton (Rob); and her brothers, Virgil Blaylock and Ricky Blaylock (Mary).
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Harvest Time Church in Van Vleck. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Noe Cano officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Slade Hickl, Devin Barnes, Bart McDonald, Derrick Keller, Lee Blaylock, and Trent Blaylock. Daniel Hernandez will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
