Sammy Turner, 73, of Markham, Texas passed away March 25, 2017. He was born August 25, 1943 in Harlan County, Kentucky to the late Walter and Mable Turner.
Sammy served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, retired after 26 years of service from Boling ISD as Maintenance Supervisor, he was a 30 year member of the Lions Club International, a member of Boling and Markham Volunteer fire departments, and a 15 year member of the American Legion Post 649 Blessing, Texas. Sammy was baptized into Markham Methodist Church in June 1993.
Survivors include his wife Linda Turner of Markham; daughter Crystal Joy Cobb & husband Lloyd of Yorktown, TX; son Samuel Shane Turner & wife Jill of Yorktown, TX; step-son Jeffrey Todd Morris of El Campo; sisters Charlene Toscano of Indiana, Mayrene Tolliver of Bledsoe, KY, Laura Dicks of Lexington, KY and Deb Troutman of Evarts, KY; brother Denver Turner of Evarts, KY and grandchildren Haley Turner, Brooke Turner, Zackary Morris, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Justin, Luke, Kilburn and Calvin Turner.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ramsey officiating. Pallbearers are Dickie Thompson, John Lafour, Brent Burttschell, Todd Morris, Marshall Richardson and Monty Kramer. Honorary pallbearers are "Doc" Fatharee, Henry Pecha, David Korenek, Leonard Wittig, Mike Watson, Jim Mullino, Mike Dudley, Curtis Werchesik, Robin Sparks, Pete Kucera and James Andersen. Cremation will follow.
