Oleta "Ruth" Miller, 86, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on December 29, 2017 at Oak Bend Hospital in Richmond with her family by her side.

Ruth was born to the late Catmus Roy Harrell and Edna Lily Kelley in Weatherford, Texas on March 13, 1931. Ruth graduated from Weatherford High School and attended business school.

Ruth married Edward Dayton Miller on June 4, 1950, in Weatherford, Texas. They were married for fifty-four years.

Ruth retired from Southwestern Bell. Her love for holidays, especially Christmas, led her to her after retirement position at The Strawberry Patch in Bay City. Her passion for collecting and Hallmark ornaments brought many wonderful people into her life. Most often, she was referred to as "the Hallmark Lady". Even after the closing of The Strawberry Patch, Ruth continued to contact individuals and ensure they had the ornaments needed to brighten their Christmas. She was an avid Astros fan and their winning the World Series brought her much joy.

Ruth's family was her world. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Russell D. and Connie S. Miller of Bay City; grandson Garret D. Miller and wife, Ashley of Williamsport, Indiana; granddaughter Dr. Morgan Ruth Bullard and husband Cody of Lubbock; sisters Nona Faye Taylor and JoAnn Maxine Fowler and husband, Herbert Bolton Fowler all of Weatherford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Kelly Edward; infant daughter; brothers, Don Clayton Harrell, Ewell J. Harrell, Lloyd Emil Harrell, Roy C. Harrell, and Marvin Glenn Harrell; sisters, Lola Earline Parks and Margaret Jane Terry.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Taylor Bros Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10AM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bay City with Rev. Lane Pardue officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Garret Miller, Cody Bullard, Darron Ross, Patrick Hodgins, Wayne Head, and Ronnie Woolsey. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Head, Kirk Head, Vim Head, Richard Harrell, Blaine Ross, and Shea Krauskopf.

The family would like to thank Angels Home Health, Dr. Amy & Dr. Greg Keffer, Olga Moya, Shirley Rutherford, and the staff of Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas.
