Ruben Rodriguez, Sr., 73, of Wharton passed away May 28, 2010. He was born Sept. 25, 1936 in New Gulf, TX to the late Jose and Soledad Garza Rodriguez. He worked as a welder for Texas Gulf Sulpher Co. and served in the US Army.

Survivors include his wife Rosie Rodriguez of Wharton; daughter Cecilia "Cissy" Schroeder & husband Doug of Katy; son Ruben Rodriguez, Jr. and fiancé Emily Koch of Houston; sisters Magdelina Rodriguez of Wharton, Yolanda Diaz of Houston, Graciela De Los Santos of Firendswood & Emma Beach of Albuquerque, NM; and grandchildren Austin and Addison Schroeder.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Monday, May 31, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City with Rev. Gerry Cernoch and Rev. Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX. Pallbearers will be Ariesteo De Los Santos, Dale Trevino, Freddie Alvarado, Doug Schroeder, Howard Clements, Jr. and Kenneth Kolancy.
