Ruben Reyes Garcia Sr., 81, of Bay City passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. He was born March 4, 1933 in Bay City to the late Martin & Consuelo Reyes Garcia. Ruben was a lifelong resident of Bay City; a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and was retired from Celanese as a Central Maintenance Foreman.

He is survived by his 4 children: Ana Garcia Pena & husband Daniel, Mary Gonzales & husband Joe, Ruben Garcia, Jr. & wife Amy, and David Garcia & partner Dennis Cannon; grandchildren: Leticia Acosta, Teresa Gonzales, Gregory Gonzales, Marissa Valentine, Cristina Garcia, Rachel Garcia, AnaLiese Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, and Penelope Pena; and great grandchildren: Isabella Acosta, Ryan Acosta, Luke Valentine and Leah Zamora: siblings Mary & Abelardo Trevino, Pete & Olivia Cervantez, Richard Cervantez, Ortencia & Carlos Garcia, Yolanda & George Perez, Connie & Richard Alameda, George & Marcela Cervantez, Virginia Cervantez, Arthur Cervantez, Ernest & Eva Cervantez, Francis Cortez, Maria & Seferino Mendoza, Angelica & Robert Lawrence and Rosa Garcia. Ruben was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years: Cristina Muniz Garcia in 2011, grandson: Joseph Gonzales, and infant son Gabrial Garcia.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited 9:30 AM, with the Mass following at 10:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be: Gregory Gonzales, Gabriel Garcia, Robert Muniz, Mark Sardelich, Mike Sardelich, and Armando Acosta. Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Sardelich.
