Rosie Steffie Kosarek, 93, of Blessing, Tx. Was born September 5, 1917, in Cistern, Texas, and died September 11, 2010. She was the eldest daughter of the late Thomas Brdecko and the late Mary Dornak Brdecko. When she was 10, she moved with her family to Matagorda County where she lived on the family farm for over 80 years. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. She was retired having cooked at Tabola's Café, being a housekeeper at St. Peter's and working at Toni's nursery. Rosie always believed in and received tremendous satisfaction from working hard on the farm and enjoying and sharing her vegetables and flowers. Her family will always cherish the memories of her teaching us how to make kolaches and egg noodles. She is survived by her son, James of Blessing, Tx.; and her daughter, Dolores Miller and husband Richard of Port Lavaca, Tx.; her granddaughters; Stacie Byrd and husband Shannon of Bay City, Tx., and Michele Streetman and husband Paul of Austin, Tx.; and 2 great grandsons; Justin Byrd and Connor Streetman. She is also survived by 1 sister, Martha Vacek of Palacios, and 1 uncle, Ed Dornak. She is preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, an infant son, Joseph, her sisters, Frances Hlozek and Mary Tomasek and other relatives. The funeral Mass was held 2:00 P.M. Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with a rosary being prayed at 1:30 P.M.. Burial followed at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
