Obituary

Rosemary Trentham Uherek, 87, was born October 14, 1929 in Stafford, Texas to Jessie Raymond Trentham and Bertha Mae Tipton Trentham. She was the 2nd of 5 children. Rose and her family lived in Damon, Texas. It was there through the encouragement of her grandmother that she went to Sunday School and Church where she learned about Jesus Christ and trusted her life to Him. When Rose was 14 the family moved to Louisiana. It was there that she met Adolph Frank Uherek and at age 15 she married him. "Ade" served in the U.S. Military during WWII and when his term of service ended they moved to the oil fields of West Texas where he found work on the rigs. During this time their children were born. Later they were transferred by Marathon Oil to Matagorda County where they made their home first in Markham then Sugar Valley and finally settled in Van Vleck. Rose had been a full time homemaker and after the children were older she worked as a waitress for Caine's Restaurant, Circle C, and Wayne's Restaurant. She enjoyed being with people as she served them food because this gave her opportunity to talk to them about Jesus and serve them faith. She and the family attended the Church of Christ and later Harvest Time. Later into Ade's retirement, his health declined and she spent most of her time lovingly caring for him. She took pleasure in her flower garden and her collectibles, but most of all she loved her family and took every opportunity to tell others about her children's talents and accomplishments which she considered as God's gifts of Grace and Truth in their lives. In the past five years Rose's health began to steadily decline. Her children cared for her in her home until she needed the services of Sweeny House, The Legacy, and finally the Bay Villa Healthcare Center. It was there, with family at her side that she passed from their loving care into her eternal home with her wonderful Lord Jesus Christ.

Rosemary is preceded in death by sister Opal Lee Trentham who died at birth; brother Raymond Gilbert Trentham; parents Jessie and Bertha Mae Trentham; her husband of almost 60 years "Ade" Uherek; and grandson Frankie Orr.

She is survived by sisters JoAnn Heffernan and Jessie Ruby Jenkins both of Eldorado, Texas; daughter Nova Jean Orr of Van Vleck; son Louis Ray Uherek and his wife Gay Lyn of Markham; daughter Caroline Mae Griffith and her husband Vernon Ray of Van Vleck; grandchildren David Orr (Sandra), Chris Orr (Amy), Luann Uherek, Karen Uherek , Louis Ray Uherek Jr., Susan Mary Lewis (Wesley), and Julie Deckard (Andrew); 18 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; and as well as nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
