Rose Ellen Hanna, 91, of Van Vleck, died on Saturday, February 23, 2008. She was born to Mittie Chastun Hanson & Anton Hanson on June 20, 1916 in Ashwood, Texas. She married Mackey Horrell Hanna on November 24, 1938. She was a devoted wife & mother and later worked at the US Post Office in Van Vleck. She was a devout catholic and an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City for most of her 91 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, a son, Michael Albert Hanna, siblings Johnny Hanson, Cassie Peabody, & Sina Bourland, her parents & infant siblings William & Dorothea Hanson.

She is survived by 10 children: Cynthia Robinson, of Halletsville, Martha Hanna, of Houston, Nancy Franz (Johnie), of Wharton, Miriam Cihal (Steve), of Victoria, Johanna Potter, of Columbus, Marilynne Hodapp (Phil), of Bemidji, MN, Pat Hanna (Ann), of Sacramento, CA, Dennis Hanna (Denise), of Columbus, Ricky Hanna (Shirley), of Richwood, Mark Hanna (Sonya), of Fredericksburg; brother Paul Hanson, of West Columbia; 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 6:00 PM with the rosary following. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Zach Cihal, Jake Hodapp, Tim Hodapp, Jared Potter, Will Hanna & Kevin Gutteron. Honorary pallbearers will be David, Craig, Sean, Nathan, Steven & Cade Hanna. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Catholic School.
