Rosalie Mae Nelson Ellis was born at the Nelson home on October 22, 1917 to Roy and Carrie Belle Nelson. She died March 13, 2006 in Bay City. She graduated from Collegeport High School in 1935 and from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in 1940.

Rosalie taught a total of 25 years in Richards, Bay City, and Palacios Schools. She married W. L. Ellis on October 5, 1947 and was a lifelong member of Matagorda County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons Gilbert Ellis and Jerry Ellis.

Survivors include two sons and three daughters-in-law Jesse and Carolyn Ellis of Collegeport and Tommy and Pat Ellis of Palacios; and Dollee Ellis of Bacliff, TX; one sister Ethel Williams of Bay City; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She will be instate from 9 AM to 9 PM Wednesday at Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios with Revs. Andy and Janell Blair officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers include Thomas Holsworth, Mason Holsworth, Russell Corporon, Buddy Lenz, G. W. Franzen and Fred Law.
