Rosa Quintanilla Montalbo, 80, passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 in Sugar Land. She was born February 8, 1931 in Boling, TX to Praxedes Quintanilla and Margarita Serbantez Quintanilla. She was a long time resident of Van Vleck, has resided in Angleton for the past four years, and she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City.
She was a full time housewife and worked out in the cotton fields. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking (especially making tamales), and working in her flower garden, before she got sick.
Rosa enjoyed her life until she got sick. She enjoyed being around family and friends, she was a very Christian woman and had a lot of faith in the Lord. She made friends very easily and everyone called her "AMAW".
The family extends a special thank you, to Angleton Visiting Nurses, Angleton Danbury Hospital, Sugar Land Methodist, and Triumph Hospital in Sugar Land. A special thanks to all the physicians and nurses on staff, and a special thank you to Lupe Fuerro, her sister-in-law.
She is survived by her daughters: Margarita Nieto & husband Adolfo of Bay City; and Rosalinda Thomas of Angleton, TX; by her sons: Lewis Montalbo of Angleton, Mike Montalbo Sr. and wife Erlinda of Van Vleck, George Montalbo and wife Kathy of Louise, Paul Montalbo & wife Ann of Angleton; sisters: Josephina Gomez and Sophie Valdez of Bay City; brothers: Tino Quintanilla Sr of Bay City and Nick Quintanilla of Van Vleck; and by 28 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Montalbo Sr.; by her parents, Praxedes & Margarita Quintanilla; by a son, Felix Montalbo Jr.; by her sisters, Juanita Montalbo and Marcella Gonzales; and by a brother, Ignacio Quintanilla.
The Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 15, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Marshall Montalbo, George Montalbo Jr., Felix Montalbo, Brian Pott, Adolfo Nieto Jr., Billy Joe Nieto, Andy Martinez, and Rocky Martinez.
