Rosa Lee Reed Coston,94, of Van Vleck went to be with her Lord and Savior April 27, 2017. She was born January 12, 1923 to the late Robert L. and Georgie Brock Reed.

Rosa Lee had lived in Van Vleck since 1933. She and Doyle O'Hanlin Coston married in 1940. Doyle retired from LCRA and then served as a Constable for 12 years. He and Rosa Lee had been married 62 years when he passed away in August of 2002.

Rosa Lee always valued God and family and has passed this down to her entire family. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck for many years. You couldn't find a more loving and heartfelt person that portrayed the goodness of God in so many ways. She truly is God's instrument on this Earth to love people and give them a place to call home. She has fulfilled her calling as a wife, mother and grandmother to the fullest.

Rosa Lee is the matriarch of this family. She started what is now a 74 year old Christmas tradition after the birth of her first child. What once started in the living room of a small house, has for the past 16 years been celebrated in the garage due to the enormous size of her family. They gather every Christmas Eve to celebrate the birth of our Savior. She has always welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, and if she knew you were coming to celebrate Christmas with the family, you would even have a present under the tree. It has always been a tradition that once the Christmas meal had finished, she would gather all the small children around the tree and tell them the story of the birth of Jesus. She wanted to make sure that they all knew the true meaning of Christmas.

Rosa Lee is preceded in death by her parents; husband Doyle O'Hanlin Coston and daughter Bonnie Coston. She is survived by daughters Doyleen Coston Justice (Don), Gwynda Coston Harvey Jones(the late Gary Jones) and Judy Coston Calk (Tranis); two nieces whom she raised: Sandra Reed James (Dennis) and Patti Reed Gilbert (Michael); grandchildren Dianna Hales (Kenny), Shelly Weeks (Bret), Jay Harvey (Stephanie), Stephen Harvey (Tyrena), Julie Justice, Michelle (Pete), Thomas Lee Calk (Jackie), Toby Calk (April), Kristi Corenfield (Henry), Wesley Harvey (Michelle), Paula Boone (Marty), Sandra James (Dennis) and Patti Gilbert (Mike);sister Maurine McMurrey; 27 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 1:00pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Van Vleck. Services will follow after visitation at 2:00pm with Rev. Bob Hobbins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers are Jay Harvey, Stephen Harvey, Thomas Calk, Kenny Hales, Bret Weeks, Mike Gilbert, Marty Boone and Wesley Harvey. Honorary pallbearers are Don Justice, Tranis Calk and Mike McMurrey.
