Obituary

Rodney J. Carlsen , 49, was called to be with our Lord and rest in His loving arms January 10, 2015. He was born March 5, 1965 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Emil H. Carlsen and Margie Kacer Ames.

Rodney graduated in 1983 from Van Vleck High School and worked as a contract laborer. He was kind, loving, considerate, generous and would help anyone he could. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, cook and BBQing. Rodney was an animal lover and cared for many stray animals along with his own and was a big, Dallas Cowboys fan.

Rodney is survived by his father Emil H. Carlsen (Daphne) and mother Margie Ames; brother Steve Carlsen and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He will be truly missed.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30am Friday, January 16, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City, Texas. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am, following the Rosary. Interment will be at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Blessing, Texas. Pallbearers are David Stavena, Chuck Hahn, Shannan Byrd, Steve Zernicek, Bruce Krenek, Alan "Spot" Hinton, Mike Ware and Brent Burtfschell. Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Welfel, Jim Taylor and Joe Dement. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic School Foundation or the charity of your choice.
