Obituary

Robert Alton "Bob" Porter, Sr., 92, of Palacios, passed away December 30, 2015. He was born April 3, 1923 in Brownsboro, TX to William C. and Grover Price Porter.

Bob proudly served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He was a private pilot and an avid hunter and fisherman. Bob had a radio and television repair business, and was manager of Palacios Cable T.V. for 6 years. He also worked with the Federal Aviation Administration as a flight controller. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hogan Porter; daughter Melissa A. Carpenter of Palacios; sons Robert Alton Porter, Jr. and wife Maria Eugenia of Laredo, TX, Edward Dale Porter and companion Sheila Brown, James G. Porter and companion Dawn Casey all of Palacios; step-son David A. Richardson of Cuero, TX; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00pm Saturday January 2, 2016 at Palacios Funeral Home.Services will follow the visitation at 3:00pm at the funeral home with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Palacios Area Historical Association at http://www.citybytheseamuseum.org/donate.html
