Obituary

Robert Louis Ziegenhals, 77, of Bay City passed away December 24, 2024.  He was born December 20, 1947 in Wharton, Texas to the late Charles Bruce Ziegenhals and Hattie Lee LeTulle Ziegenhals.

He was a 1966 graduate of Bay City High School.  After graduating, he served 6 years in the US Navy in Vietnam Era.  Upon returning, he attended Flight School in Oklahoma and began his career as a crop duster.  He volunteered at Holy Cross Catholic School for 25 years.  He loved going to deer camp and teaching his boys and grandson about hunting. He also enjoyed duck hunting at Chinquapin Farm.

Louie was a funny, happy guy who never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years Marilyn Joy Wurth Ziegenhals; sons Trent Ross Ziegenhals and Michael Louis Ziegenhals; brothers Charles Bruce Ziegenhals, Jr. (Gloria) and James Lee Ziegenhals; grandson Colt Morris; sister-in-law Tina McClellen (Jeff); brother-in-law Scott Charvet (Jessica); brother-in-law Tom Wurth (Barbie); nieces and nephews William Ziegenhals; Kimerlyn & Jason Einkauf; Matthew McClellan, Monica McClellan and Alyssa & Tucker Rowan, James Clapp, Justin Killion, and Madison  and Ryan Wurth, and father-in-law Tom Wurth (Polly). Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by mother-in-law Joy Charvet Gremillion, stepfather-in-law Bill Gremillion and father-in-law Richard Charvet.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2025 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Bill Bullard officiating.  Interment will follow at the LeTulle Family Cemetery near Markham, TX.  Pallbearers will be Donald Miller, Mike Castillo, Bubba Hudson, Doyle Coor, Leo Castillo, Rick DeLeon, Mike Karl and David Pevey.  A reception will follow the interment at St. Mark's Episcopal Church Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Louie's name to Holy Cross Catholic School Foundation; St. Mark's Episcopal Church or the We Defy Foundation benefiting our veterans.
