Robert Lee Lawrence, 72, of Bay City, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 in Houston, TX. He was born February 20, 1936 in El Campo, TX to Ernest Kade Lawrence and Geneva Norsworthy Lawrence.

Robert was a resident of Matagorda County since 1965, and retired as a pipe fitter from Celanese. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Bay City, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, his cattle, and spending time with his family. He also loved to cook and make beef jerky.

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years: Marie Ann Coker Lawrence of Bay City; his daughters: Ginny Spencer & husband Mike, Lisa Dibbern & husband Randy and Sheri Lee Butler & husband Stuart, all of Bay City; his foster son: Michael Lindgren of Huntsville; sister: Wanda Williams of Victoria; brothers: Eugene Lawrence of Utah, Doug Lawrence, Dennis Lawrence, Melvin Lawrence, all of Victoria and Russell Lawrence of Nacogdoches; his grandchildren: Sandra Hogg & husband Bryan, Kade Spencer & wife Stacey, Trent Tinnin, Robert Travis Tinnin, Lawrence Chase Dibbern, Lauren Dibbern, and Brent Butler; his great grandchildren: Spencer Hogg and Kaylee Spencer; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest Kade and Geneva N. Lawrence; a sister: Bessie Baker; and a brother: Clayton Norsworthy.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Lane Pardue officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Bryan Hogg, Kade Spencer, Trent Tinnin, Travis Tinnin, Chase Dibbern and Brent Butler. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Eugene, Doug, Dennis, Melvin and Russell Lawrence.

Contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund.
