Robert "Bob" Kunefke, Sr., 79, of Palacios passed away July 8, 2007. He was born November 13, 1927 in Winnie, Texas to the late William Paul Kunefke & Gladys E. Adams Kunefke. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Palacios and retired from Sun Oil Co. after 36 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, shrimper, hunter & gardener. Everyone around the bay in Palacios knew him as "Uncle Bob".
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ethel Lee Kunefke of Palacios; daughter & son-in-law Cheryl Lynn & Brad Scott of Palacios; son & daughter-in-law Robert "Bobby" Kunefke, Jr. & Chris of Palacios; sister Thelma Standley of Hamshire, TX; brother Leonard D. Kunefke of Palacios; and two grandchildren Amy Lynn Foote of Plano and Nicole Ann Kunefke of Palacios. He was preceded in death by two brothers Ralph W. Kunefke and Vernon P. Kunefke.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2007 with Pastor David Gruhn officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Fields, Ted Bates, Jr. , Vernon Bates, Sr., Tom O'Bannion, Art Lang and Johnny Brady. Members of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Palacios.
