Robert Eugene Holland, 81, of Bay City passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. Robert was born on August 5, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Al and Annie Pridgen Holland. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and also as a Merchant Marine. In 1957, he and his new wife Evelyn moved to the Caney Creek area of Matagorda County where he worked as a rancher and farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Faith Diane Dean. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Holland and a son, Glenn Holland and two grandchildren, Sherman Rudd and Melissa Willey as well as four great grandchildren.

Visitation for Robert will be held at the Bay City Funeral Home on Friday, February 11, from noon until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Bay City with Rev. Jeff Gantz officiating. Interment will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Danavang, Texas. Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.
