Obituary

Robert Wayne Butler, 85, of Bay City passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010. He was born March 25, 1925 in New Hartford, Missouri to Everett & Enid McKelvey Butler. He served in the US Air Force. He married Frances LaVerne Stewart in 1946 and moved to Bay City in 1948. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. An avid walker, runner and active supporter for the fight against cancer, he participated in countless runs, walks, relays, Senior Olympics and climbed the highest mountain in the western hemisphere in Argentina for Prostate Cancer. He loved a good game of Chicken Foot, Black Jack and planning family adventures.

He is survived by daughter & son-in-law Judy & Tommie Burditt of Rosenberg; son & daughter-in-law Richard & Lynn Butler of Bay City, son Charles Butler of Palacios; grandchildren Troy Burditt & wife Jo Ann, Marsha Butler, Grady Butler, Lauren Butler and Emily Butler all of Bay City and great grandchildren Clay, Mason & Brittney Burditt of Rosenberg; brothers Don Butler & wife Pat of West Richland, WA and Kenneth Butler of Richland, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.

His wife Frances LaVerne Butler, son Alan Robert Butler and brother Eugene Butler all preceded him in death.

The family will receive visitors from 7pm to 9pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, June 10, 2010 at St. Paul's Methodist Church with Rev.
