Obituary

Robert Brian Davis, “RD”, was born on December 4, 1977, in Bay City, Texas, to Gary Wayne Davis Sr. and Alice Heidrich Davis. On July 7, 2026, Robert peacefully left his earthly body and entered the Celestial Lodge above, where the Supreme Grand Architect of the Universe forever presides and forever reigns.

RD was a man of many roles. He was a Godly man, family man, parts man, comedian, son, husband, father, brother, friend, and confidant to many. He never met a stranger, and everyone who crossed his path quickly became a friend. During his 48 years, RD loved big, laughed often, and enjoyed life to the fullest.

If you ever heard him say, “Ladies and gentlemen, hey!,” you knew to prepare for an epic story to follow! Whether he was telling jokes, giving advice, or recounting one of his unforgettable, and often exaggerated, tales, RD had a gift for making people laugh and bringing everyone together.

His love for sports was something he shared with family and friends, but watching the Houston Astros was his favorite. Countless memories were made under the carport, where the Astros game was always on, a cold beer was waiting, Robert was sure to be cooking something amazing, and everyone was welcome. His love of baseball began in childhood alongside his beloved grandfather, Papa Joe, whose time with him at the ballpark created memories he treasured throughout his life.

RD was a proud member of Matagorda Masonic Lodge No. 7, where he faithfully served for more than 22 years as a Master Mason. During that time, he held numerous offices, including serving twice as Worshipful Master. After completing his second term on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, he looked forward to the day when his sons would stand beside him as Brothers in the Lodge—a dream he held close to his heart.

In June 2003, RD married the love of his life, Kimberly Talasek Davis. Together they built a beautiful family, having three sons who they taught to work hard and love and protect each other always. They recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary with a party bus full of family and friends, cheering on their beloved Houston Astros—one more joyful memory that perfectly reflected the life they shared together.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Werner and Ellenora Heidrich, and Joe and Nita Davis; his in-laws, Marvin and Elaine Talasek; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Kimberly Davis; his three sons, Bryce Skinner, Brayden O’Daniel, and Bryer Talasek; his parents, Gary and Alice Davis; his brother, Wayne Davis and wife Lacey; his sister, Karen Gibbens; his brother-in-law, David Gibbens; his sister-in-law, Kristi Blythe; his brother-in-law, John Jureczki; and his treasured nieces and nephews: Lexi, Gunner, Grace, Iralynn, and Megan Gibbens, Dylan Davis, Hailey and Hanna Miller. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and his Masonic brothers.

RD’s legacy is one of boundless generosity, contagious laughter, and unconditional love. Though his earthly journey was far too short, the lives he touched and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Nichols Street Church of Christ, 1200 Nichols Ave, Bay City, TX with Matt Springfield officiating. Interment will follow at Matagorda Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers will be Bryce Davis, Brayden Davis, Wayne Davis, Robert Huffman, Glen Davis, Neil Jurek, Nathan Lubbers and Jim Black. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryer Davis, Eric Heidrich, Jeffery Edmonson, Byron Black, Daniel Bales, Donnie Loftin, Steve Davis, John Jureczki and Dylan Davis.
