Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Richard Dean Lawson must announce his passing on June 3, 2020 at his home in Bay City, Texas. He was 59.

Rick will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Rosanne Tomyn, son-in-law Aaron Tomyn, grandsons Parker and Bennett, siblings Eva Kientz, Deborah Booker, Virginia Douvia, and Donald Lawson, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed his many close friends from Thomas Jefferson High School, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Relay for Life, and many other causes and community groups he was involved in during his lifetime.

Rick was a 26 year survivor of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and a survivor of a three-round battle with recurrent meningioma. For years he served as Chair for Relay for Life events, coached youth sports, and was active in many survivor advocate groups.

An avid collector of t-shirts, he was the life of any gathering and never met a stranger. He could always be counted on to lend a hand, a shoulder, or an ear. He loved his family and was so proud to be a Grampa. His awesome hugs will be missed by so many.

A celebration of his life will be 6:00 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Neon Moon in Bay City, Texas.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Washington State.
