Richard A. Escobar, 67, of Bay City, TX, passed away July 11, 2017. He was born March 7, 1950 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Ernesto and Margarita Alaniz Escobar.
Richard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid fan of vintage cars and a mechanic specialist. Richard served his country in the Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. While in the Marines, he was an ammo-tech specialist, a golden gloves boxer and trained as a sniper, and was a member of the American Legion. He also loved to research and go on Big-Foot hunting excursions. Richard loved Dean Martin songs, and you could often catch him breaking out into one of his favorites, "That's Amore" or "A Marshmallow World". He was a member of Harvest Time Church, Rivers of Living Waters and Power Church. He went on several missionary trips for 16 years to Mexico, to minister to the poor and needy, and to preach salvation. He was Christian and loved his bible. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Escobar. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Katherine Carswell Escobar; children Tamara Escobar, Aaron Escobar and Heather Woods; sister Frances Velasquez; brothers Ernesto Escobar, Jr. and Raul Escobar; 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and 1 great-grandson.
The family will receive friends and relatives, beginning at 10:00am Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Services will be 2:00pm Saturday at the funeral home following visitation.
